Indian Elections in occupied Kashmir not equal to right to self-determination: Ali Raza Syed
Chairman Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) Ali Reza Syed has said that parliamentary elections under Indian rule in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is not a solution to the problem of Kashmir, nor is this right equal to right to self-determination of the Kashmiris.
In his statements issued from Brussels, he said that a plebiscite should be held in entire Jammu and Kashmir through the United Nations so that the Kashmiri people can decide their own future.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir are struggling for their right to self-determination and any kind of voting or parliamentary elections under the Indian Constitution is not tantamount to freedom of Kashmir.
Reacting to the recent elections for the seats of the Lower House of the Indian Parliament “Lok Sabha” in Occupied Kashmir, he said that India has an illegal occupation of a large part of Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmiris do not accept this illicit occupation at all.
Ali Raza Syed said that India wants to hide its atrocities and brutal killings on the Kashmiri people by holding so-called elections in Occupied Kashmir and wants to give the impression that there is peace in Jammu and Kashmir and the democratic process is going on.
While the fact is that India has implemented black laws in Occupied Kashmir, through which the Indian security forces can imprison and torture anyone without reason.
Eight lakh Indian forces are imposed on Occupied Kashmir and they are holding people hostage through black laws. A large number of Kashmiri youths have been subjected to extrajudicial killings and many Kashmiris are in Indian jails for their freedom movement.
India conducts elections in Occupied Kashmir through intimidation and rigging and also uses the media in this regard, but international human rights organizations and international observers are not allowed to visit Occupied Kashmir. Elections under the Indian constitution in Occupied Kashmir aim to maintain Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and continue Indian atrocities on Kashmiris.
Ali Raza Syed said that the freedom movement of Kashmiris cannot be stopped through India’s election drama, black laws and delay tactics.
The struggle for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir will continue. While the people elected in the Indian administration can never be the true representatives of the Kashmiri people, nor can they raise their voice for the right of Kashmiris. India has forcibly occupied Kashmir, but a day will surely come when India will give freedom to Kashmiris. India cannot keep Kashmiris for long.
Chair of Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed said that international human rights organizations should take notice of Indian atrocities and for the final solution of the Kashmir issue, plebiscite should be held in all Jammu and Kashmir under the UN resolutions.
